ILB EurGeol Title Renewal

About EurGeol Title Renewal process managed via the ILB

The EurGeol Title is maintained through an annual renewal process that validates professionals’ commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards, as stipulated by the European Federation of Geologists (EFG). This process is structured to ensure that activities performed in one year are reported and contribute to the renewal for the subsequent year.

For detailed guidance on Maintaining and renewing the EurGeol Title, managed by a National Licenced Body, please contact the relevant NLB directly

The maintenance and renewal of the EurGeol Title, overseen by the International Licensed Body (ILB), are structured around three key steps: 1) CPD reporting, 2) Annual Renewal survey, and 3) Payment. Watch the renewal overview tutorial in full screen here.

Step 1. Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Activities:

  •  Engage in and document CPD activities throughout the current year. For example, to renew your title in 2024, report CPD activities undertaken in 2023.
  • Record these activities in the EurGeol Portal. Ensure they align with the stipulated categories and meet both the category-specific and total minimum requirements (15 points /120 hours under Acquiring knowledge and skills by deployment; 4 points /8 hours under Informal learning/training; 4 points / 8 hours) under Self-directed study; 2 points / 4 hours under Social competence (Social responsibility, Ethics).
  • When reporting CPD activities in the portal, as journal entries, please convert hours to points (credits) according to the CPD weighting table. You can disregard the following fields: "Credits Expire", "Score (%)" field and "Activity Code".
  • EurGeols in employment may apply for CPD point carry over from previous year using this formEurGeols not in employment may apply for CPD reduction and/or CPD point carry over from previous year using this form
  •  It remains the EurGeol's responsibility to make sure they align with the EFG CPD RequirementsFor detailed CPD category guidelines and minimums, please visit: https://eurgeoltitle.eu/page/EurGeol_CPD.

Step 2. Annual Renewal Survey:

  •  Once the CPD requirements are met (a total of 60 points, including minimums per category, according to the CPD Requirements), complete the Annual Renewal Survey for the year you are reporting. For renewal in 2024, complete the survey in 2024, reporting on CPD data from 2023.
  •  Confirm adherence to the EFG Code of Ethics and declare full completion of the CPD requirements in the survey.
  • Access the survey in this link

Step 3. Payment of Annual Fee:

  • Following the completion of the CPD and ethics declarations, access the 'Members Area' on the EurGeol Portal, then select 'Account + Settings' from the drop-down menu at the top, located between the bell icon and your name.
  • Navigate to 'Payments & History' and select 'Membership' to process the fee necessary for renewing your title for the upcoming year.  Completing this step will ensure your title is valid for the year following the upcoming one (e.g., renewing and paying in 2024 will validate your title for 2025).
  • After completing the payment, you can download your invoice directly from the thank you page. Alternatively, log in to your account, navigate to Payments and History > Membership, and click on the banknote icon under options to print/view your invoice. Finally, click on "Print" to download your invoice.
  • The annual EurGeol Title fee is 42€. 21% Belgian VAT may apply depending your VAT number.
  • Card payment is the default and preferred method. In exceptional circumstances and upon request, EFG may provide a wire transfer invoice as an alternative option.
